Neon Parc is excited to announce ‘Hot Cakes’, a solo presentation of new photographs by Darren Sylvester at Sydney Contemporary 2026.
‘Hot Cakes’ brings together eleven new photographs that form a visual tone poem on the promises and construction of contemporary life. Installed as a single suite, the exhibition moves across a diverse range of subjects while remaining unified by Sylvester’s distinctive visual language of meticulously constructed sets, cinematic effects, and saturated colour.
Drawing on the aesthetics of pop music videos, fashion photography, advertising, and cinema, Sylvester’s images examine the seductive surfaces of contemporary culture. Throughout the exhibition, subjects including IHOP diners, champagne towers, crying fountains, and harp recitals bring glamour, artifice, aspiration, and absurdity into playful collision.
